Kenya eTA is an online travel document. It accesses the traveller’s information and authorizes them to enter and explore Kenya for a short period. What is Kenya eTA?
Kenya eTA (electronic travel authorization) is an online authorization system introduced in January 2024. It was implemented by the Kenya government to provide a more effective and convenient entry process for travellers. It offers a simplified application process that is easy to complete without any hardships. Kenya eTA is a pre-authorization process for international travellers visiting Kenya and the eTA travel permit is issued online.
Who needs a Kenya eTA for their Kenya trip?
All eligible nationals must obtain a Kenya eTA before travelling to Kenya. The citizens of EAC (East African Community) are exempt from getting Kenya eTA. The EAC comprises the following states Tanzania, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.
Who is exempted from obtaining a Kenya eTA?
International travellers who satisfy the following conditions do not have to get an eTA for their Kenya travel.
- Kenya passport or one-way Emergency Certificate holders (from Kenya Missions abroad)
- Having a valid work permit or passes
- Kenya permanent residence card holders
- Citizens of EAC partner states
- Transit travellers staying within the airport premises
- Travellers arriving and leaving through the same ship and not leaving the ship
How many times can I visit Kenya using Kenya eTA?
The Kenya eTA permit is valid for single entry, which means travellers can enter Kenya only once. Travellers cannot use their Kenya eTA to re-enter Kenya after exiting the country. To re-enter Kenya travellers must apply for a new eTA each time.
What is the permitted length of stay under Kenya eTA?
Kenya eTA is a suitable entry permit for short-term visits. Travellers entering Kenya with Kenya eTA can stay in the country for up to three months (90 days) from their entry date. It is a single-entry permit and eTA travellers can enter and exit the country one time only.
What are the Kenya eTA requirements?

Is it mandatory to keep a print copy of the approved Kenya eTA?
Travellers may not need a print copy of their Kenya eTA because it will be linked to their passports. However, having a print copy is advisable because it might be useful.
Can I reapply for Kenya eTA immediately after the rejection of my previous Kenya eTA?
